Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces orecchiette pasta
  • 19 ounces Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: lemon and fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Add crumbled sausage seasoned with salt and pepper. Cook until browned (about 5–7 minutes). Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, dried parsley, and red pepper flakes; cook for another minute.
  2. Meanwhile, boil salted water in a large pot. Cook orecchiette according to package instructions for al dente texture. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  3. In the pan with cooked sausage, add remaining olive oil, chicken broth, and broccoli florets. Stir frequently until broccoli is tender (3–5 minutes). Add butter and simmer until slightly reduced.
  4. Toss drained pasta into the sausage-broccoli mixture, adding Parmesan gradually while mixing well. Use reserved pasta water to thin out the sauce if needed.
  5. Serve hot with optional lemon juice and extra Parmesan on top.
